KOHAT: Security forces and police have arrested 17 more suspects in an ongoing operation in Lower Kurram aimed at apprehending miscreants.
With these latest arrests, the total number of detainees has risen to 65 since the operation began on Thursday.
Heavy weaponry and looted goods have been recovered as well during the operation, which is still underway.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Kohat, Abbas Majeed Marwat, is leading the operation in Lower Kurram alongside the Pakistan Army.
Speaking to the media, he confirmed that security forces had arrested 17 more suspects in areas including Bagan, Manduri, and Ochhat. He added that 18 terrorists and 12 facilitators had been apprehended so far.
The RPO said the weapons seized from the arrested individuals included heavy machine guns, multiple Kalashnikovs, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
He said looted supplies, including medicines and other essential goods, had been recovered. Some of the detainees were wanted criminals with cases registered against them at the Counter-Terrorism Department for looting convoys and attacking security forces.
