The Sindh Rangers, in collaboration with the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), on Monday carried out a joint operation in the Gulshan-e-Noor area of Surjani Town, District West, leading to the arrest of two suspects involved in a kidnapping-for-ransom.
The suspects, identified as Waseem Raza and Nix, were taken into custody, and the body of the abducted woman was also recovered. According to a spokesperson for the Rangers, the authorities received information that a woman named Sahar Fatima had been kidnapped from Gulberg Town by a group of kidnappers who demanded a ransom of 100 million rupees.
Acting on this intelligence, the Rangers and AVCC carried out the operation in Surjani Town, resulting in the apprehension of the two suspects.
During initial questioning, the suspects confessed that on February 15, 2025, they had abducted Fatima, holding her in a rented house in Hasan Brohi Goth, Surjani Town. They had tied her hands and feet, filmed a video, and sent it to her father along with a demand for 10 million rupees in ransom. When the ransom was not paid, the suspects brutally murdered the victim.
Based on the suspects' information, the police recovered Fatima’s body from the house in Hasan Brohi Goth. The body was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination. An FIR had been filed at the Yousuf Plaza police station in District Central. The arrested suspects were handed over to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell for further legal proceedings.
