Upon hearing it, a large number of residents rushed to the scene and began rescue efforts on their own, pulling the injured from the debris.

Shortly afterwards, police, rescue teams and ambulances arrived at the site. The explosion caused severe burns to four people, who were immediately transported to the burns ward of the Civil Hospital, Karachi.

The injured were identified as 28-year-old Noor Fatima, daughter of Moosa, 13-year-old Maryam, daughter of Kamran, 42-year-old Humaira, wife of Kamran, and 15-year-old Abdullah, son of Kamran.

According to the police, the explosion occurred due to a geyser malfunction. The affected family had forgotten to turn off the geyser overnight. Due to gas loadshedding, when they attempted to ignite it at around 11am, the accumulated gas caused an explosion, resulting in injuries and the house’s destruction.

Police sources stated that the building was severely damaged. Officials from the Sindh Building Control Authority and local administration inspected the site and concluded that the structure had been compromised and would need to be demolished.
