LAHORE:More than 200 guests fell ill after consuming substandard food at a wedding ceremony in the Nawab Town area.
According to details, citizen Sarfaraz, a resident of Khayaban, had booked a marquee for the wedding ceremony, where approximately 360 guests were invited. Soon after consuming the food, more than 200 guests experienced nausea and stomach-related issues, prompting their immediate transfer to various hospitals.
The PFA DG responded to the situation, sealing the marriage hall and initiating an inquiry. A formal complaint was lodged by Food Authority officer Arif Shahzad, leading to the registration of a case against the marquee owner under the provisions of the Food Act at Nawab Town police station.
Meanwhile, hospital officials confirmed that all affected individuals were discharged after treatment, with their conditions no longer deemed critical. The PFA assured that samples from the food served at the event would be sent to the laboratory for further investigation.
11 die on road in 24 hours
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,330 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,518 were injured. Out of these, 642 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 876 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Lawyers booked on charges of killing cop
Mozang Police registered a case against lawyers on charges of killing an Assistant Sub-Inspector. The text of the FIR stated that the martyred ASI Shahid was taking away the accused Adeel outside the FIA court after arrest when the lawyers attacked the police party to free the accused. As a result, ASI M Shahid of Shad Bagh police station was martyred. Police said that all the accused who martyred M Shahid would be arrested soon and brought to justice.
