Rawalpindi:The Punjab government is set to commence construction on an underpass on The Mall, to improve traffic flow in the city, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Amir Khattak announced.
To ensure smooth traffic movement during the construction phase, the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has devised an alternative traffic plan. Additional personnel have been deployed along designated alternative routes to minimize disruptions and facilitate commuters.
Commissioner Khattak emphasized that the completion of this project will not only enhance traffic flow on Mall Road but also contribute to the overall improvement of Rawalpindi’s road infrastructure. He urged citizens to use the alternative routes provided by the Traffic Police and cooperate to mitigate temporary inconveniences. Once completed, the underpass will make Mall Road a signal-free corridor, significantly easing congestion.
Meanwhile, the City Traffic Police has outlined specific alternative routes. According to a spokesperson, Mall Road (from MH Hospital to TM Chowk) will remain completely closed during construction. Traffic will be diverted to Haider Road, where parking will not be allowed. Citizens are advised to follow the traffic advisory and use alternative routes for a smoother commute.
