The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) senior leaders have said that no other political party can match the PPP’s performance in serving the masses and resolving people’s problems.
PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, and PPP Karachi President and Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani said this on Sunday while speaking at a programme where office-bearers and activists from different political and social organisations announced their joining the PPP.
Speaking on the occasion, Khuhro recalled that the PPP comprised just 300 people when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had formed the party. He said the PPP is a national political force representing people from all regions of the country. Bhutto had formed the PPP for everyone in the country, he added.
He also said that efforts are under way to expand the PPP. He claimed that no other political force can compete with the PPP in Sindh. The PPP’s integrity in Sindh is rock solid, he added.
Khuhro said the PPP drives its strength from its activists who laid down their lives, endured hardships and rendered innumerable sacrifices during their struggle for democracy. He said young blood is joining the PPP. Women play an important role in the progress and development of any country, he added.
He also said that nine million deprived families across the country are the beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme launched by the PPP’s past government to empower women from underprivileged families. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the best political leader to lead the country, he added.
Ghani appreciated that a good number of Karachiites have been joining the PPP after realising that the party can perform the best in resolving the problems of the people.
He said the PPP would resolve the issues of Karachi with support from its residents. More graveyards should be built in Karachi after the existing ones have been filled to capacity, he added.
He also said the Sindh government has identified land for building more graveyards in the city. The Sindh government has given land to different associations and communities in Karachi to build graveyards, he added.
Ghani said that an authority is being established in addition to framing the rules to better manage and run the affairs of graveyards. All the communities living in Karachi need graveyards, he added.
He said that since its forming, the PPP has been serving the people without any discrimination based on their colour, religion or ethnicity. Sacrifices rendered by the leaders and workers of the PPP has strengthened the party and made it a popular political force in the four provinces, he added.
He also said the people of Karachi do not believe any more in the politics based on ethnicity for peace and calm in the city. Karachiites have realised that the PPP can do the best for the development and progress of the city, he added.
The minister said the elected representatives of the PPP in the National Assembly, the provincial assemblies, the Senate and the LG system belong to every community. He said that three representatives of the PPP elected to the general seats of the assemblies belong to religious minorities. No other political party in the country can dare to give tickets to candidates from minorities to contest on the general seats, he added.
