The District West police announced the arrest of a suspect, Mohsin, on Wednesday, in connection with the murder of Noor Rehman, a policeman from Waziristan, who was killed in Orangi Town.
The police stated that the suspect was involved in the fatal stabbing of Noor Rehman with a sharp-edged weapon in Sector 11.5, Yaqoobabad, under the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market Police Station.
According to the police, they were able to track down the suspect using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence — essentially like piecing together a puzzle from different clues. The police not only arrested Mohsin but also recovered the murder weapon, a knife, along with the victim’s mobile phone from his possession.
Further investigation revealed that Rehman and Mohsin had previously worked together as a driver and conductor on a dumper truck. The murder was allegedly the result of a personal dispute between the two, highlighting how even seemingly mundane work relationships could sometimes lead to tragic outcomes.
A case had been registered under Sections 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The suspect was now in the custody of the investigation police, where further legal proceedings would take place.
