Sam Asghari was married to Britney Spears for a little over a year from 2022 to 2023

When Britney Spears tied the knot with now-ex Sam Asghari in 2022, she was just a little over a year free from her 13-year-long conservatorship.

Now, Asghari is revealing what he found to be the most “ridiculous” aspect of the legal arrangement that controlled so much of her life.

In a raw conversation on the Sibling Revelry podcast with Kate and Oliver Hudson, the 30-year-old fitness trainer shared his shock when he first learned the extent of the conservatorship.

“One day I start learning about what the conservatorship is, and that’s when I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I thought I’m in America,” the Irani model said. “What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents?’”

Reflecting on the personal toll of fame, Asghari acknowledged how “damaging” it is when the “people that are the closest to you,” including parents, “take advantage” of you.

“They take an advantage because they think, you know, you owe something to them… which is so ridiculous,” he said.

Throughout the Free Britney movement, Asghari stood by Spears’ side, offering her support. “The best thing to do was to provide support, and that’s what I did,” he shared.

Though their marriage ended in 2024, Asghari wishes the best for his ex. “I would love for her to do whatever makes her happy,” he said in a previous interview with Page Six.

Now, Asghari is moving forward with real estate agent Brooke Irvine, going Instagram official with her earlier this year.
