In a tragic incident in Baldia Town on Thursday, a man said to be a drug addict allegedly strangled his wife to death.
The incident took place at a house located in Baldia Town Sector 12-E within the limits of the Saeedabad police station. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the property and transported the casualty to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, where the deceased woman was identified as 22-year-old Saba. She was the mother of two children. The Crime Scene Unit was also called to collect evidence. According to police, the suspect, Irfan, killed the woman after subjecting her to physical abuse.
The couple had contracted a love marriage a few years ago, police said, adding that after the murder, the suspect called the victim's father, asking him to retrieve his daughter’s body from the house.
Police revealed that the suspect hailed from Sadiqabad, Punjab, and he fled the scene after committing the crime. Raids are being carried out for his arrest. Quoting the victim’s parents, police stated that their son-in-law was a drug addict who frequently abused their daughter. When conflicts escalated, Saba would often return to her parents' house, but after some time, she would reconcile and return to her husband’s home upon his request, hoping to rebuild their family life. The grieving parents have demanded justice and called on authorities to arrest the perpetrator and ensure that he got a strict punishment.
