JI chief urges talks with ‘genuine’ leaders of Balochistan

Some elements are eyeing resources of province and are not interested in resolving people’s problems, says Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI: Speakers at a seminar demanded change in the government’s policies towards Balochistan and recovery of missing persons.

Addressing a seminar on Balochistan at Karachi Press Club, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that his party will party will try its best to have the grievances of the people of Balochistan redressed.

He said, “If you want to resolve the issues, you will have to talk to the genuine leadership of the province, not with Form-47 leadership.”

He said that some elements in Balochistan are eyeing the resources of the province and are not interested in resolving people’s problems.

He urged the establishment and political leaders to be empathic when it comes to the issue of missing persons.

He asked why maga projects are not being launched in Balochistan and why there is no Quetta-Karachi or Quetta-Islamabad motorway connection.

He added that there is a competition in corruption in Balochistan and Sindh provinces. All proceeds of resources of Balochistan are syphoned to some feudal lords in Balochistan.

JI Balochistan Ameer Maulana Hidayatur Rehman in his speech negated all the negative propaganda about the people of Balochistan.

Zahid Akhtar Baloch said that the province constitutes 40 percent of Pakistan, provides gas and minerals to the rest of the country, yet it was facing sheer injustice.

Balochistan Union of Journalists’ Imtiaz Tariq said that the people in Balochistan have to take permission of the deputy commissioner before holding a seminar or press conference.

The government has attempted multiple times to close the Quetta Press Club to suppress the voice of people, he added.
