An event was held at the British Consulate in Karachi to promote women empowerment under the Ladies Fund project of the Dawood Global Foundation. Notable figures from different walks of life including Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom Martin Dawson participated in the event.
The national anthems of Pakistan and the United Kingdom were played at the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Dawson said the Dawood Global Foundation had been working for many years to empower women. He added that he had been attending their events for the last three years and found Tara Dawood working for the education of women and making them active in different spheres of life.
We all need to work on the rights of men as well as women, the British diplomat said. The ceremony was attended by show business stars, cricketers, artists, politicians and ambassadors of different countries.
On the occasion, Tara said the Dawood Global Foundation had provided education to 10,000 girls with the financial support of 32 countries. Hundreds of women had been trained to be part of sustainable trade, she added.
