Provincial minister reviews performance of government departments

Rawalpindi: Provincial Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan has said that after stabilising prices in the markets to reduce inflation, checks and balances should be ensured at every level. The Chief Minister of Punjab has added 32 new field hospitals to the healthcare system in 100 days.

He expressed these views during a meeting to review the performance of government departments at the Commissioner's Office during his visit to Rawalpindi. Local public representatives and divisional heads participated in the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema and RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpak gave a briefing on the divisional performance.

On this occasion, the provincial minister said that the Chief Minister of Punjab has entrusted him with the responsibilities of Rawalpindi Division for coordination among stakeholders. He said that today's meeting is introductory, but for the next meeting, tasking will be done with a timeline. The joint efforts of parliamentarians and administrative officers will lead to public relief. We will try to regional policies should be brought in.

Regional policies will be made keeping in mind local problems and needs. He said that the most important step is the socio-economic registry. Public representatives should help the needy people in their constituencies in registering because this data will be used in the Ramazan package and all other aid programmes. Therefore, make every effort so that no deserving person is left deprived. He said that the solar panel project in energy is also close to launch. Public representatives should make people aware of registering in it.

To reduce the level of inflation, after stabilising prices in the markets, checks and balances should be done at every level. The Chief Minister of Punjab added 32 new field hospitals to the healthcare system in 100 days. Thirty to thirty-five thousand people are getting free treatment in Punjab every day.

He said that every institution in Punjab will be digital, under the Dastak project, certificates and vehicle files will reach the doorsteps of homes. A fee of Rs900 has been fixed, of which the Punjab government has kept Rs100 in the form of a token.

E-buses have been ordered to solve the transport problems of Rawalpindi. A total of 78 e-buses will be operated on 6 routes, including Taxila, Wah Cantt, IJ Principal Road to Chungi No. 26 and Daulatala to Rawalpindi. Bilal Akbar Khan said that the target is to convert 150 bus stands into model bus stands in this one year.

In a briefing by RPO Rawalpindi, it was informed that the crime rate in Rawalpindi has decreased significantly. According to the latest data, there has been a decrease of 24 per cent in property dispute cases, 29 per cent in robbery cases, 52 per cent in theft cases and 27 per cent in car theft cases in Rawalpindi. Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, while giving a briefing about the progress made on the special initiatives of the Chief Minister in Rawalpindi district, said that 553 students have benefited from the Chief Minister's Internship Program so far.

Similarly, 101 confirmed cases have been completed in the Punjab ‘Dhi Rani’ Programme. 192,658 registrations have been completed so far under the Socio-Economic Registry Programme. 3,350 tasks have been completed in ‘Maryam Ki Dastak’, while 2,437 are in progress. The phase of school outsourcing 256 schools have been outsourced.
