ALPURI: Five more miners, who had lost their lives in the Sanjdi coalmine tragedy in Balochistan, were laid to rest at ancestral graveyards in the Shangla district as efforts were being made to recover the last trapped coalminer Amanullah.
It may be mentioned that Amanullah, along with 11 other miners, was trapped after a tragic gas explosion on Friday evening at the mine, located 40 kilometres from Quetta in Balochistan. The explosion, caused by a buildup of toxic methane gas, led to a fire and the collapse of the mine’s roof.
While 12 miners were working 6,000 feet underground at the mine. Ten of them hailed from Shangla.Rescuers recovered and transported the bodies of nine miners to Shangla, where they were buried.
The deceased were identified as Roshan Zeb, Izharuddin, Muhammadiya Malik, Nauman Aziz, Muhammad Shafi, Umar Wali, Wahid Zaman, Nizamuddin, and Akbarullah Luqman. Efforts were being made to recover Amanullah’s body.
