Islamabad: Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan hosted a Human Rights Day event here to honour Pakistan's rich poetic heritage and linguistic diversity.
Titled ‘One to All Voices of Resilience,’ the event featured 10 gifted young poets from across the country, who recited their poems in Urdu, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi, Punjabi and English.
Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan Dr Riina Kionka emphasised that poetry was a powerful form of expression around the world.
She said that poets had long played a crucial role in advocating for human rights, both in Pakistan and worldwide.
"Icons like Habib Jalib and Faiz Ahmad Faiz has embodied this tradition in Pakistan, inspiring generations to stand for peace and equality through their words," she said.
The event concluded with the budding poets presenting their work, which earned them enthusiastic applause from the audience.
