ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) in the Senate and Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Monday said that PTI had no option but to face the legal process.
“The only clear path is to face the courts in their cases. If PTI is waiting for any foreign government to open the doors of the jail for them that will not happen,” Siddiqui said while speaking to the media outside the Parliament House. He said that the priorities of the newly elected US President Donald Trump and to what extent he would intervene in the affairs of other countries were not yet known. “What I do know is that there is a prisoner in Pakistan who provided significant assistance to the US in the search for Osama,” the senator said. He said the US demanded the handover of that prisoner on several occasions from several governments, but that prisoner is still in our custody. “Since Pakistan did not hand him over, it was unlikely that any country, including the US, would interfere in Pakistan’s internal affairs,” he said. Senator Irfan Siddiqui said it was unfortunate that instead of dealing with matters according to the constitution, rules, and laws in the courts, PTI made it an international issue
e through propaganda, external and internal pressures, and the use of social media, thereby tarnishing the image of Pakistan. He said that PTI equates the situation in Pakistan with Gaza, and they claim nothing is happening in occupied Kashmir compared to the atrocities here.
