Sindh's Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has instructed the secretary of the Energy Department to formally address the federal government regarding the escalating issue of gas loadshedding and low pressure in the province.
In a statement issued on Friday, Shah highlighted that Sindh, the country's largest natural gas producer, is unjustly deprived of its own resources. He noted that the onset of winter had brought immediate gas loadshedding, leaving children to attend school without breakfast and adversely affecting their education.
Shah called for implementing Article 158 to ensure fair gas distribution, asserting that the province contributing the most gas should have the primary right to its use. He also urged Sindh's representation on the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority to address inequities stemming from the province's lack of representation. He appealed to the president and the prime minister to urgently address the gas shortage in Sindh.
