karachi: The Marine Section of Karachi Enforcement of Pakistan Customs successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle Iranian diesel in the open waters of the Arabian Sea.
During the operation, two launches — Al-Waheedi and Al-Moeen — were seized, along with 15,504 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel. The total value of the seized diesel and launches is estimated at Rs17.8 million.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Customs stated that the government remained committed to enforcing a strict anti-smuggling policy. Karachi Customs Enforcement had been conducting vigorous operations to curb smuggling activities. Acting on confidential information provided by Collector of Customs Enforcement Karachi, Moinuddin Wani, the Marine Section carried out the operation that led to the seizure.
The confiscated diesel had been moved to the ASO warehouse, while the two launches were transferred to the NMB Wharf. A case has been registered under the Customs Act, and further legal action was underway, the spokesperson added.
