Little Abdullah has stopped laughing. It has been over a day since he saw his mother.
The child was found at Sea View on Monday night, reported Geo News. He was brought to the Edhi Centre by a man named Faizan. Workers at the orphanage say Abdullah does not speak much and he misses his mother terribly.
Background checks by the Edhi Centre have revealed that the mother’s name is Haleema.
Bilquis Edhi says that no one has contacted her for a missing child. “I appeal to his mother to contact us. She could be in trouble and may not be able to come to us personally, but please give us a phone call. Your child misses you terribly.”
Hundreds of children in Karachi go missing every year. Roshni Helpline, a not-for-profit-organization claims that 2,160 went missing in Karachi in 2015.
Its president Mohammad Ali has for years campaigned to get ‘missing children’ a legal status. He claims that a child is not considered missing by the police until he has been away for 24 hours. This result in crucial time lost for investigation that could help police recover missing children, Ali says.
