The District West police have claimed killing two suspects within a few hours after they had killed a policeman in Orangi Town. The suspects were involved in the killing of Constable Abdul Ghaffar in the Orangi Town area within the limits of the Iqbal Market police station on Thursday.
They shot the cop dead near the Khalil Market when he spotted them robbing people travelling to the vegetable market in a Suzuki vehicle. The martyred constable was on his way to duty when he bravely attempted to thwart the robbery and fired at the suspects.
In response, the three suspects also fired at him, which resulted in his death. One of the suspects, Tajuddin, was killed by the policeman in the exchange of fire. A Suzuki driver, Ijaz, was injured in the incident.
The other two suspects initially escaped the scene. However, on the night between Thursday and Friday, a police team conducted a targeted operation on the basis of a tip-off to arrest them.
The suspects attempted to escape under the cover of fire. After the exchange of fire, the two suspects were critically injured and later succumbed to their injuries. Police said the two suspects involved in the constable’s killing were accompanied by two other suspects who managed to flee.
The deceased suspects were identified as Najeebullah and Faheem. Among the three robbers killed in total, two have been identified as Afghan nationals. The motorcycle used in the robbery was also recovered. Cases have been registered against the killed suspects, and their identification was also confirmed with the help of the injured Suzuki driver.
