HYDERABAD: Registration for online admissions in the Federal Institute of Technology named Hyderabad Institute for Technology and Management Sciences has started.

The Peoples Party government has already allotted 100 acres of land in Gulistan-e-Sarmast for the federal-chartered Institute for Technology and Management Sciences.

MQM MPA Engineer Sabir Hussain Qaim Khani says that the establishment of the federal institute is a manifestation of the efforts of MQM’s leadership and elite representatives. He said the MQM is grateful to the Sindh government, including President Asif Zardari, who allocated 100 hectares of land. The demand for the establishment of several universities at the federal and provincial levels for the citizens of Hyderabad has been a longstanding one, but the sector like education has been politicized

Due to the 18th Amendment, the federation cannot establish a university in any province, but it can establish a degree-awarding institute, but the Peoples Party played an important role in the allotment of land regarding the federal institute.

Hyderabad Institute for Technology for Management Sciences Registrar Professor Shakeel Ahmed said that the classes of the federal institute are being started at the youth hostel in Kohsar Latifabad. With the phased construction of university blocks by the federal government, various departments will be shifted, and classes will be increased. At present, three other classes, including IT computer lab, are ready.
