The father of two daughters allegedly committed suicide due to financial distress at his house in Karachi’s Manghopir area on Monday.
The incident took place at a house located in Mir Muhammad Goth within the limits of the Manghopir police station. Following the incident, police and rescue workers reached the property and transported the casualty to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as 28-year-old Hizbullah, son of Mishal Khan.
Police said the man shot himself in the head and was critically wounded. He died on his way to hospital. His family told the media that the victim had two daughters and he used to drive a rented rickshaw.
According to the family, the deceased man hailed from Waziristan and he moved to Karachi with his children in 2006. Hizbullah also worked as a labourer, they said, adding that due to high inflation, he was unable to provide for the family. Hizbullah had been very worried for the past few days as there was no money or food at home, upon which he committed suicide, said the family.
Traffic accident
A young man died in a traffic accident on the Super Highway on Monday. The accident took place within the limits of the Gadap City police station. The deceased youth was identified as Syed Ahmed Bilal, 24, son of Syed Bilal Badaruddin. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Police encounter
Meanwhile, the Sachhal police claimed to have arrested a suspected in an injured state after an encounter in Saadi Town. Police said cops signalled two motorcyclists to stop but they tried to flee. As police chased them, they opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of fire, police managed to arrest one of the suspects in an injured state. He was identified as Ateequllah.
Police also claimed to have recovered a stolen motorcycle and weapon from his possession. The other suspect managed to flee the scene.
