CDA sanitary workers hold protest against non-payment of salaries

Convener World Minorities Alliance and Organiser Awami Maseeha Party J Salik and Sanitary workers on Monday has protested against CDA for non payment of salaries in the capital for the last three months in front of Ministry of Human Rights Commission says a press release issued here.

Addressing the participants of the protest demonstration J Salik said that the sanitary workers are already managing their lives very hard adding that they get up early in the morning and clean the city without bothering their health and other needs. When there is no medical facility for them even they have put their lives at risks in this regards.

It is very shameful for us as we claim ourselves of being a nuclear power. He said that we should be ashamed when we call ourselves as international competitors and we are unable to pay even our sanitary workers whose salary is approximately ten or twelve thousand rupees per month he added.

He further said that it is very difficult to survive when salary is late even for one month or more. He said that government has already made many injustices with minorities by privatizing sanitation department of CDA and now trying to humiliate them adding that it is a open expression of hate with Christian community as no other department is privatized like sanitation department.

After three hours of continuous protest in such a sizzling weather CDA director CDA has apologised and promised to pay salaries of sanitary workers on Friday and said that I will resign from my seat if such sort of blunder will happen again.

It is worth mentioning here that Chairman of Human Right Commission of Pakistan Justice (r) Ali Nawaz Chauhan has taken notice against non payment of salaries of sanitary workers.
