MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s District President Saqib Mehmood Mahay has resigned from office. Speaking at a press conference at the Multan Press Club on Monday, Mahay announced resignation from his office. He said he had joined the PTI through Shah Mahmood Qureshi during a difficult time and endured hardships for two years. His house was raided and business was damaged. After the May 9 incident, no PTI MNA took out as many protest rallies as he did, but the sad situation is that he was ignored in the distribution of tickets in the general elections. Even in by-elections, he was given a deaf ear. He informed PTI Punjab President Hammad Azhar, South Punjab President Aun Abbas Bappi, Zain Hussein Qureshi, Amir Dogar and Moeen Qureshi who assured him that they would stand by him. He said it was up to the party whether or not appoint Ejaz Janjua or Khalid Warraich as PTI district president, but he would stand by the party as a worker. By removing him from the post of district president, not only he but all PTI workers were disrespected. He said they all stood by Imran Khan and would continue to do so.

At the press conference, a large number of PTI workers also announced disassociation from the party. They included Babar Khokhar, Muzaffar Jameel, Naseem Iqbal, Wasim Khan, Abid Shah, Khurram Gardezi, Mazhar Khan, Nader Nawaz, Rana Ashraf, Numan Jami, Amar Ahmed, Amil Khan, Samoon Durrani, Fayaz Rasool and Hafiz Haroon.
