Did Khan sell flat or Buckingham Palace?
LAHORE: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif mocked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan through a tweet in which he referred to Khan’s finances and inquired whether he sold a flat or the Buckingham Palace in the United Kingdom in order to meet his expenses years later. Asif showed his amazement over the fact that Khan made so much money after selling a flat that he has been spending it even after a number of years.
Muttahida’s ex-minister Mashhadi, two others arrested
HYDERABAD: Rangers on Sunday raided MQM sector offices in Hyderabad, arresting three senior party members including a former minister Sohail Mashhadi. Rangers arrested party’s zonal committee members Sohail Mashhadi, Rafique Ajmeri and Raheel Fahim on Sunday.The MQM said in a statement that Rangers also raided house of AMPSO sector in-charge Ali Raza Vakil in Cheetal Chari area of Hyderabad and arrested his father Vakil. “They also raided the house of former APMSO sector member Amir Khanzada in Guru Nagar. As he was not present at home, they also conducted a raid at the house of his brother,” the MQM said. “Houses of MQM workers Naeem Chhipa and Shabbir Gaddi were also raided.”
Four killed in Landikotal firing

LANDIKOTAL: Four persons were killed when two rival parties exchanged fire over a petty issue in Bazaar Zakhakhel area of Landikotal, official and local sources said on Sunday. The sources said that the members of the rival groups first exchanged harsh words and then opened fire on each other in Khasrogi area in Bazar Zakhakhel. Two persons were killed on the spot while two others were seriously wounded. The injured were shifted to hospitals in Peshawar where they succumbed to their injuries. Those killed were identified as Shafiq, Khayali, Nek Wali and Fazle Haq.

OKARA: PPP general secretary Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has said that the Panama Leaks are brought to surface by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists after a long investigation and study. Addressing the lawyers here on Saturday, he said that UK PM David Cameron had been constantly struggling to clear his position in the British Parliament regarding the Panama Leaks. He said that the time was not far off when the rulers of Pakistan would have to step down from their offices. He disclosed that Asif Ali Zardari would not meet Nawaz Sharif’s messenger Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Criticising the Sharif family, Khosa said that the government was destroying the agriculture sector.
Shahbaz visits Gilani’s home,
greets him on son’s recovery
MULTAN: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Sunday visited the residence of former prime minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and greeted him over recovery of his abducted son. During his visit to Gilani’s residence in Multan Shahbaz Sharif extended congratulations to him and his family over son Ali Haider Gilani’s recovery after three years. He presented bouquets, sweets and also discussed prevailing issues with him. Earlier, upon his arrival CM Punjab was extended warm welcome by Yusuf Raza and his family. He spent more than half hour with Ali Haider and his family.
Two killed as truck falls into canal in Batkhela

BATKHELA: Two persons were killed when a truck fell into the canal here on Sunday. Sources said the truck was on its way to Swat from Mardan and the accident happened early in the day. Eyewitnesses said the officials of the Malakand Agency administration and rescuers reached the spot soon after the accident. They recovered the bodies of Salim Khan, driver and Fawad, the helper, after hectic efforts.
Five killed as car falls into river in Mingora

MINGORA: Five members of a family were feared dead when a car plunged into the Swat River on Sunday. The local sources said that the ill-fated family was driving in a car. The driver, Tahir Khan, lost control of the steering wheel near Mankial and the car fell into the Swat River. Driver Tahir Khan, wife of Mandar Khan and two children drowned in the river. The body of a three-year-old child was fished out of the river. Efforts were on to search for bodies of other victims. The driver and others hailed from Cham Garhi area of the Bahrain tehsil of the Swat district.
Five women arrested in Lower Dir over
theft charges

TIMERGARA: The Samarbagh Police on Sunday claimed arresting a gang of five women thieves and recovering Rs98,000 cash and unstitched cloth from them. The women gang was presented before the media at Timergara Police Line. Speaking at a news briefing, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Timergara Circle, Hidayatullah Shah, and Samarbagh Police Station Station House Officer (SHO) Ibrahim Khan said that two women belonged to Bajaur Agency while three came from Peshawar. The cops said the gang was involved in thefts. They revealed that the women gang was residing somewhere in the provincial metropolis and used to visit Lower Dir for thefts. A case was registered and investigation launched against the arrested persons.
Four die in Sukkur accidents

SUKKUR: Four people were killed and several others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents. Dr Niaz Samejo and his driver, Mitho Rahamoon, died when their car collided with another in Umarkot.Dr Samejo’s wife, Dr Shugufta, who is affiliated with the PTI women’s wing of Umarkot, and their children sustained injuries in the accident. Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy, Sajjad Ali, died in a collision between two rickshaws in Shikarpur.
A labourer with 22 children

LAHORE: It’s clear that a labourer in Khushab doesn’t care much about population welfare as he has fathered 22 children. Making even worse is the fact that none of them goes to school as it is extremely hard for the family to make both ends meet.
Muhammad Ashraf – a resident of Chak 52/ML and a vendor selling ice cream in the streets – says he got married in 1982. His eldest son is 25 now and a father of three. Ashraf says his children want to study but could not afford education.
Syed Rasool, who was elected as councillor from the village, says he bagged maximum number of votes from Ashraf’s family and therefore wants to see the government giving assistance to the poor labourer.
Boy dies of wrong injection

TOBA TEK SINGH: An alleged quack killed a 15-year-old boy by administering him a wrong injection.Haseeb, son of Naseer of Gaushala, visited clinic-like place of quack Muhammad Amin on the Allama Iqbal Road, where the quack administered him an injection. The injection left the boy dead instantly.To get information about the incident, District Drug Inspector Saqib Javed, a health department team and the city police party reached the spot.The ‘clinic’ was sealed and the city police arrested the quack.
Train bogey derails near Tando Adam
TANDO ADAM KHAN: A bogey of the Rawalpindi-bound Pakistan Express train derailed near here on Sunday. The train driver applied brakes near the railway station, after which the last bogey derailed. Fear and tension gripped the passengers. No casualty was reported in the incident. The railway track was closed temporarily and repair work was underway till the filing of the report.
