The University of Karachi is holding admission tests for MPhil, PhD, MS and MD for the academic session-2016 on Sunday (today) at 10am.
As many as 2,630 students submitted the admission forms this year, of which 2,613 candidates were declared eligible to appear in the admission test, KU Director Admissions Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi said on Saturday.
According to him, 2,271 students have been enrolled for MPhil, 2,73 candidates are appearing for PhD, while 69 students submitted forms in MS programme.
He said that the KU had instructed all the candidates to reach the admission test venue half an hour before the starting time of the test with original CNIC and admit card. The list of successful candidates in the admission test will be announced on the KU official website on May 23, 2016.
He added that all those students who had received their degrees from those private academic institutions or foreign university which were recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) must get their “Equivalency Certificate” from the KU deputy registrar (Academics) before provisional admission.
Entry test for MPhil/PhD
The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has announced that it would organise an entrance test on Sunday (today) to induct students in its MPhil and PhD Programme-2016.
An ICCBS official said the admission test would be conducted under the KU high learning programme.
The successful candidates would be given admissions to the Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) and the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry.
“The ICCBS-KU is one of the finest academic research establishments of chemical and biomedical sciences in the developing world,” he said. Professor Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, the director of the ICCBS-KU,said the centre had increased the amount of scholarships last year for MPhil and PhD students from Rs14,000 to Rs16,000 and Rs16,000 to Rs30,000 respectively. He said hundreds of candidates would appear in examinations and viva in various science disciplines, which included molecular medicine, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, bio-organic chemistry and pharmacology. He said the test would be held at 10am, but the candidates would have to report at 09:30am along with their admit card and original CNIC.
