PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday granted transit bail to former federal minister Shehryar Afridi till July 8 and directed him to appear before the relevant forums.

Justice Shakil Ahmad heard the petition.

Muazzam Ahmad Butt Advocate, the counsel for the petitioner, told the bench that a case was registered against his client in Balochistan where he had gone to attend a seminar.

He said that permission had been sought for holding the seminar and Section 144 was imposed in Balochistan at the time.

He said that Shehryar Afridi was a member of the National Assembly and wanted to attend the budget session for which he was seeking transit bail. After hearing the arguments, the court granted him transit bail with the directives to appear before the relevant forums.

Talking to reporters after the hearing, Sherhyar Afridi said that there was no rift in Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). “There is no grouping in PTI.

However, the party leaders can express their views on different issues independently,” he went on to add.

About the institution of cases against the party leaders, he said that they had not violated any rule of law.
