The meeting was attended by Managing Director SSWMB Imtiaz Ali Shah, chairpersons of all towns, and other relevant officials. Wahab emphasized the importance of coordination with town and union committee chairpersons to ensure the smooth provision of public services during Eidul Azha.

He said timely removal of animal waste is crucial and that public awareness measures have been implemented. To manage the disposal of animal remains, a total of eight trenches and 100 collection points will be established.

“We will work closely with town chairpersons to ensure that all public services are delivered effectively during Eidul Azha so that citizens have no complaints,” he said, adding that the public had high expectations from them, and they were determined to address the city’s issues on a priority basis.

He said the SSWMB should utilise all resources to achieve the best performance. “The staff must remove animal waste from every street and neighborhood promptly,” he said.

He also ordered the use of lime sprinkling and spraying at collection points and other relevant areas to maintain hygiene.

Shah provided a detailed briefing on the Eidul Azha arrangements and monitoring process. He noted that the excavation work for safe disposal of animal waste at landfill sites in Jam Chakro, Gond Pass, and GTS Sharafi Goth was in the final stages, with a total of eight trenches being prepared. Waste collected from various areas will be transported to these collection points and then transferred to the landfill sites.

For the four-day Eidul Azha operation, additional vehicles and labour will be deployed. The town chairpersons assured the mayor of full cooperation with the SSWMB in timely removal and transportation of waste to collection points. They also highlighted the issues faced in their areas.

Mayor Wahab concluded by stressing the need for immediate focus on the Eidul Azha operation, ensuring that citizens faced no difficulties in performing the sacred duty of animal sacrifice.
