Doctor asks government to declare emergency

CHARSADDA: Several children were hospitalized as measles broke out in the remote areas of the district, sources said on Friday. The sources said several children were taken to hospitals in Gandhri, Zyam, Umarzai, Mandani, Harichand and Abazai localities of Tangi tehsil after the measles outbreak.Some children were taken to Peshawar and private clinics due for lack of facilities at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. A pediatrician at the THQ Hospital, Dr Tahirullah, told The News that around 30 children were brought to the hospital daily. He added that one out 10 children couldn’t survive. The doctor said that treatment of the children depended on the health of children.

PARACHINAR: The commercial centres and educational institutions remained closed on the third day of the protest during which three persons were killed due to firing.Speaking at an event in connection with the three-day mourning announced by the Tehreek-e-Hussaini at the Madrassah Ayatollah Khamenei here, speakers said that firing at the peaceful protesters was barbarism.They demanded high level inquiry into the incident. The speakers said that civilians were frequently killed in acts of terrorism in upper parts of Kurram Agency but the government was not taking the issue seriously.
Two teachers booked in Charssada

CHARSADDA: The police registered a case against two teachers of a private school in a corporal punishment case, sources said on Friday.The sources said that two teachers Karim Shahid and Younas allegedly beat up Abdur Rehman, a student of grade-IX at the Ghufran Memorial School. The student was taken to a hospital where the police registered a case against the accused. Ibadur Rehman, father of the student, told reporters that the government claims of abolishing corporal punishment at schools was nothing but a joke.
Two quakes jolt Balochistan
QUETTA: Two moderate earthquakes jolted parts of Balochistan, particularly the provincial capital and border areas of Pishin, Chaman and others here on Friday. However, there were no reports of loss of life and property. The meteorologist at Pakistan Seismic Center Nadir Mehmood told APP that the intensity of the two earthquakes was 5.3 and 5.5 on the
open-ended Richter scale respectively and added that the epic center was 20 kilometers southwest of Chaman. The First earthquake was felt at 12 noon having intensity of 5.3 at the Richter scale. Its epic center was 20 kilometers southwest of border town of Chaman in Balochistan, he said and added that after one minute another earthquake hit the region and it’s intensity was 5.5 on the Richter scale and its epic center was 24 kilometers southwest of Chaman.
Murder accused abducted by rivals in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Three murder accused, including a man and his two sons, were abducted by their rivals here. According to the FIR, the murder accused, Akbar Ali of Chak 65/RB and his sons Shahid and Nadeem were going to a court when their rival, Liaqat group, allegedly abducted them. About 18 months ago, Sajjad Ahmad of Liaqat group was murdered over a monetary issue and a case was registered against Subhan, an absconder, Shahid, Nadeem and Akbar. Police have registered a case against 12 accused belonging to the Liaqat group, including Liaqat Ali, M Shafiq and M Younis, and started an investigation.
Two killed as ambulance hits bike

FAISALABAD: Two motorcyclists were killed in an accident on the Faisalabad-Jhang Road near Painsra. Muhammad Shafi and Shabbir Ahmad, residents of Chak 66/JB, were coming to Faisalabad when a speeding ambulance collided with their motorcycle. As a result, one of the motorcyclists was killed on the spot while the other was injured seriously. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police have registered a case against the ambulance driver.
Saudi Prince Sultan calls on PM
ISLAMABAD: The President and Chairman of the Board of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here on Friday. According to a brief statement, issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office here, they discussed issues of mutual interests between the two brotherly countries.
Student murdered in Lalamusa

LALAMUSA: A class 4 student was murdered over an unknown issue on Friday. Reportedly, Zeeshan, 13, son of Ahsan of Mohallah Islampura, was murdered by unidentified people. His body was found near a graveyard. The accused killed him with a sharp-edged weapon. Police have sent the body for an autopsy and registered a murder case on the report of Ahsan’s father.
Gang ringleader held in Nankana

NANKANA SAHIB: The Mangtanwala police on Friday claimed of arresting the Kazu gang ringleader. Reportedly, on a tip-off, the police arrested the Kazu gang ringleader Kazim alias Kazu and three other criminals. Police also recovered heavy weapons from them.
