Government employees seek raise in salaries

PESHAWAR: All Government Employees Grand Alliance has organised a protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to demand a proper raise in salaries.

The protesters gathered outside the Khyber Pakhtunkwa Assembly and blocked the Khyber Road for traffic. A large number of government employees from different departments participated in the protest.

The protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans demanding proper raise in their salaries and other benefits. The protesters led by Samiullah Khalil, Malik Nisar Khan, Momin Khan and others said that they would not accept a 10 percent raise in their salaries.

The said that the government should reconsider the decision and take into account inflation before making such decisions. The protesters asked the government to double their salaries as the prices had gone up more than 200 percent during the last couple of years.

The protesting employees warned of expanding the protests to other parts of the province if their demands were not met.
