In response to a recent social media post by PTI founder Imran Khan, Sherry Rehman expressed deep concern and said in a statement attributed to Imran Khan that he compared himself to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the rhetoric emanating from Imran Khan’s social media account is alarming.

“The PTI is continuously propagating a narrative of hatred and incitement,” she said. Senator Sherry Rehman said following the general elections, the PPP extended an invitation to PTI to form the federal government, however, due to PTI’s ego and incompetence, they failed to do so.

“Now, they are resorting to threats of becoming another Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said. The parliamentary leader of the PPP in the Senate questioned what kind of message is Imran Khan trying to convey, “Is he suggesting that if he is not in power, the country will disintegrate? Imran Khan should refrain from engaging in such dangerous politics,” she said.

Senator Sherry Rehman said the PPP has repeatedly invited PTI for political dialogue, yet they prefer negotiating with the establishment. “When institutions decline to engage with them, PTI resorts to comparisons with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.
