Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Aamir Khattak has directed the Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) to install LED lights on both sides of the 6th Road Flyover and Chandni Chowk Flyover to ensure well-lit city areas. The Chief Officer, Imran Ali, mentioned that the installation work of LED lights will commence next week.
In addition, the MCR has initiated a 'Tax Free' sacrificial animal market at Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, allowing people to purchase animals within the city limits. Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) Chief Officer Imran Ali also stated that outdated lights in city areas will be replaced with costly LED lights for the first time, as per the Commissioner's instructions.
Furthermore, the MCR has set up 'Tax Free' animal markets and camps in various areas of the city to facilitate the public during the intense heat wave. Imran Ali emphasised the establishment of these facilities at multiple locations, providing relief to hundreds of people.
Moreover, the MCR has taken custody of Khayaban Park, which was occupied by the land mafia for over 40 years. Imran Ali mentioned the plans to construct a modern public park and hand it over to the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) once construction is completed.
Additionally, a strong operation against illegal parking in the city areas is set to begin soon, as the MCR aims to address the issue of illegal parking and prevent public exploitation by mafia groups.
Furthermore, the MCR will organise a 'Sports Event' in Rawalpindi, starting from the first week of June 2024, in collaboration with the District Sports Department. The sports event will include matches of cricket, football, hockey, table tennis, volleyball, and other sports. Lastly, the MCR is committed to taking action against encroachment and maintaining the beauty of Rawalpindi city, as per the Commissioner's directives. Imran Ali also encouraged the public to directly approach him for any issues related to obtaining birth or death certificates and other MCR-related matters.
