CTD arrests target killer from Manghopir

Three suspects belonging to a banned outfit also held

KARACHI: The personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Sindh, during a raid in Manghopir area, arrested a suspect alleged to have been involved in target killings.

Khurram Waris, in charge of CTD, said that during investigations into target killing and terrorism cases, an informant tipped him that some suspects involved in target killings were present in Manghopir area.

Acting on the information, a raid was conducted. On seeing the police, the accused opened fire on them which was retaliated and after an encounter, police arrested Nisar Ali Khan while his associates fled.

During the search, police recovered a Kalashnikov, a TT pistol and 120 bullets of different calibers. He added that Nisar Ali belonged to a political party, and he was involved in a number of incidents of target killing in the recent past. He was also wanted by Landhi, Quaidabad, Sharafi Goth and other police stations of District East and Malir in cases of target killings.

MILITANTS HELD: The personnel of a law-enforcement agency during a raid in the outskirts of the city arrested three suspects belonging to a banned organization. Police raided the Manghopir area and after a brief encounter arrested three suspects while their associates fled.

They added that the held terrorists belonged to a banned Taliban group and were involved in attacks on the security forces. They were also involved in carrying out attacks on Nato forces in Afghanistan. During the raid they also recovered sophisticated weapons and explosive material.
