BISP helping needy people impartially, says official

SWABI: Benazir Income Support Programme Chairperson Rubina Khalid said here on has said that BISP was committed to providing financial assistance to deserving people regardless of political affiliations.

During her visit to BISP payment centres in Swabi, she emphasised on the importance of ensuring dignified and transparent disbursement of funds to eligible women.She interacted directly with BISP beneficiaries, listening to their concerns and advising them to visit payment centres only upon receiving notifications from the official BISP number 8171.

She announced that the current installment’s stipend amounts to Rs10,500 and instructed beneficiaries to verify the full amount received and request a bank receipt. Any discrepancies should be reported immediately to the BISP helpline at 0800-26477, she added.

She instructed staff to prioritise senior citizens and women with young children, ensuring they receive prompt assistance. Also, she directed staff to inform beneficiaries of their entitlements when issuing tokens.

During her visit to the BISP office in Swabi, Rubina stressed cleanliness and improved arrangements for deserving women, underscoring the BISP’s association with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s name and the importance of preventing misuse.

Speaking to media personnel, she stated that over 9.5 million families benefitted from the BISP, with surveys ongoing to identify eligible households.Future plans include providing technical skills and small loans to empower the poor and help them break free from poverty.
