85 acquitted in Naran protest case

MANSEHRA: Regional Anti-Terrorism Court, Hazara Division, on Friday acquitted all 85 suspects who were arrested in violent protests in Naran town of Kaghan valley in 2021.

The judge, Sajjad Ahmad Jan, announced the ruling after hearing counsels from both sides.β€œThe court in its verdict acquitted all suspects held under multiple charges of ransacking properties and resorting to open fire on police during violent protests that broke out in Kaghan valley,” Munir Hussain Lughmani Advocate, the counsel for the suspects, told reporters here.

Munir Hussain Lughmani and Saqib Khan Lughmani pleaded the case.The violent protests had started following the District Administration launched an anti-encroachment drive on Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road and its adjoining localities.
