Islamabad : The Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) celebrated International Museum Day (IMD) 2024 with great enthusiasm and educational fervour, aligning with this year’s theme, ‘Museum for Education and Research.’ The museum welcomed visitors with free entry, attracting a large number of families, students, and researchers, says a press release.

Dr. Saima Huma Tanveer, Director General of PMNH, paid a special visit to the museum’s displays. During her tour, she engaged with children and young visitors, sharing insights into the museum’s exhibits and the importance of natural history. A highlight of the day was a cake-cutting ceremony, where Dr. Tanveer and a young visitor celebrated.

PMNH, home to over 1.5 million specimens, offers extensive research opportunities for university graduates and researchers. The museum’s displays are meticulously curated to align with the school curriculum, providing educational content on Pakistan’s diverse flora, fauna, and earth resources. Through these exhibits, PMNH plays a crucial role in educating visitors about the natural heritage of the country.

The celebration underscored PMNH’s commitment to education and research, reaffirming its status as a vital resource for both scholars and the general public.
