Star athletes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the biggest names in the football world. Both footballers, even at the ages of 36 and 39, respectively, are still making records for their clubs, SportsKeeda reported.

Messi is currently signed with the Major League Soccer "MLS" team Inter Miami, while Ronaldo is playing for the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Ronaldo has also been named the highest-paid athlete in the world.

However, some people are still not convinced by the skills of these two players. In an interview with Genting Casino, former Chelsea player William Gallas said that the "two players would put a stain on their careers if they returned to Europe at this age."

He said that the Argentina and Portugal players would not be able to deal with the intensity of European football, especially in top leagues like the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga.

Gallas said: "They are both nearly 40 years old, and they seem happy where they are."

Furthermore, he added that the two players would face much criticism if they returned because of their age, which would not allow them to compete with the top players in Europe.
