Police on Wednesday registered a murder case following the death of a domestic worker at a bungalow in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

The case was filed based on a complaint from the victim’s father, Heera, under the murder clause. Heera reported that his daughter, Pariya, also known as Maria, had a detailed conversation with the family over the phone on May 12, the same day she was found dead. During the call, Pariya did not express any concerns. Later that day, the bungalow owner’s son, Shahroz, informed the family that Pariya had committed suicide by hanging herself, and urged them to come to Karachi immediately.

Upon receiving the news, Heera sent his son Rameesh to the bungalow. When Rameesh arrived in Karachi, he found Pariya’s body at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The bungalow owners reiterated that she had committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. However, Heera asserted that her daughter had been murdered.”

Police stated that the cause of Pariya’s death would be determined following the post-mortem examination. The 16-year-old’s body was discovered in a bungalow located in Defence Phase 6, Khayaban-e-Bukhari. Pariya had been working as a domestic worker at the residence for ten months and she hailed from Nawahi in Hyderabad.
