Neom’s floating city named as Oxagon is going to be the “world’s largest floating structure”.
The city will be built in the southwestern area of Neom in Saudi Arabia, which is the futuristic new megacity and will be 33 times the size of New York City, as per the claims by the Saudi authorities.
Red Sea, which is 500 metres deep on average, is the location on which half of Oxagon will float.
The city is expected to be powered solely by renewable energy and will use the Internet of Things, artificial and predictive intelligence as well as robotics. With the help of this technology, it will create “a seamless integrated, intelligent and efficient supply chain”.
Oxagon is a prominent part of a larger initiative known as Saudi Vision 2030. With the aim of diversifying the country’s economy away from its heavy dependence on oil, this plan was made by the Saudi Crown.
As part of this transformative agenda, Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Mohammed bin Salman have revealed 47 key projects with Oxagon being just one of them.
To ensure the sustainability and foster innovation within the country, this project empahsises on the leadership’s unwavering commitment.
