With only six months left to the United States elections 2024, Americans are bracing for a rare presidential rematch between the two oldest candidates US has ever seen, the incumbent 81-year-old Joe Biden and the 77-year-old former president, Donald Trump.

From the beginning, this election has been like no other as concerns about their age, mental fitness, criminal convictions, and sexual affairs have plagued their campaigns, Al Jazeera reported.

Both the Republican and Democrat candidates are surrounded by their own problems, Trump is currently facing a criminal trial alleging that he paid adult star Stormy Daniels, money to keep their affair a secret before the 2016 elections.

While Biden has job performance troubles centred around inflation, immigration, and the handling of the genocide in Gaza.

In addition, the recent wave of pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses has created a generational divide which is proving to be a serious problem for Biden as his campaign is catered around chants of "Democracy".

Most polls show a tight tug-of-war between the candidates, as the election nears with most experts saying that the overall decision will come down to three states, Michigan, Georgia, and Nevada.

According to a recent Pew Research Centre poll, nearly half of all the registered voters said that they would replace both Biden and Trump on the ballot if they could.
