ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) central ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Sunday called upon the incumbent government and Chief Justice of Pakistan to open case of assassination of Benazir Bhutto to expose her assassins and take them to task.

He was addressing a reception hosted in his honour by JI Islamabad chapter at F-9 Park.

He said that Asif Ali Zardari remained President of Pakistan for five years but nobody questioned as to why the case of Benazir Bhutto was not taken to logical end. “I ask the Chief Justice of Pakistan that he remembered the case of Zulfikar but nobody asks about the case of Benazir Bhutto,” the JI top leader said.

Rehman said the JI would never accept the incumbent government with fake mandate, saying such a government was not able to bring economic reforms with this mandate through bogus Form 47. “Flour mafia, sugar mafia and wheat mafia cannot bring any change in the country,” he added.

The JI top leader also called for the constitution of a judicial commission on the formation of a government on fake mandate with Form 47, saying that rulers wanted to disappoint youth of the country with their deeds.

He asked politicians to stop begging from the establishment, saying that all the institutions would have to revert to their constitutional role.

He said those, who were involved in regime change in 2022, should also apologise to the nation.

He reiterated that his party was ready to talk to any party but would only welcome them on JI’s own agenda. “We welcome all those for talks who want supremacy of the Constitution in the country,” he said.

The JI chief demanded holding of local government election in Islamabad for the solution of problems of people at grassroots level. He said that the JI would also form public aid committees at every level.

Rehman also warned the government against making any compromise and changing stance on Palestine issue. “We stand with the people of Palestine in this difficult juncture,” he added.
