NYP team briefed on Punjab home dept’s operational framework

LAHORE: Officers from the New York Police (NYP) Department recently engaged in a constructive exchange with representatives of the Pakistani American Law Enforcement Society (PALS) during a meeting, hosted by Special Secretary Home Department Fazlur Rehman.

The gathering, attended by Additional Secretary Home Department Shahid Mehmood, Deputy Secretary Tasneem Ali Khan, Deputy Secretary Maham Asif and Sadia Jafar facilitated the discussions on various aspects of law enforcement and security.

During the session, Shahid Mehmood provided the visiting delegation with insight into the operational framework of the Punjab Home Department, highlighting the roles and functions of its 12 affiliated institutions. A detailed overview of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency’s contribution to crime prevention and investigation was also presented, underscoring its pivotal role in law-enforcement efforts.

Special Secretary Fazlur Rehman shed light on the significant work being done by the Child Protection Bureau, emphasising the provision of essential services to over 1,200 children under its care.

The NYPD officers expressed appreciation for the comprehensive briefings provided by the Punjab Home Department officials, acknowledging the value of such exchanges in fostering mutual understanding and collaboration in the realm of law enforcement.

In recognition of their engagement and partnership, Fazlur Rehman extended a gesture of gratitude by presenting a commemorative shield to the visiting delegation, symbolising the strengthening ties between the law-enforcement agencies of New York and Punjab.
