Liaquatabad bird market removed

The weekly bird market in the Liquatabad area of District Central was removed on Sunday for causing traffic issues. The weekly market would cause traffic congestion and was the bane for the area residents around Shahrah-e-Pakistan.

According to a press statement from the Commissioner's Office, Assistant Commissioner Liaquatabad Nadeem Aurangzaib supervised the operation against the market with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) director of anti-encroachment, police and traffic police.

The assistant commissioner also warned the organisers and bird sellers against setting up the market again in the future. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi has instructed all the deputy commissioners of the city to remove any encroachments in their areas that disrupted the flow of traffic and ensure that there are no encroachments on sidewalks and roads that may cause inconvenience to citizens.
