RAWALPINDI: An FBR assistant director, who was kidnapped for ransom, has been killed after the family failed to pay the extortion money to the kidnappers, police have confirmed.
Rehmatullah Khan was kidnapped from Dhok Syedan Road, Kamalabad on April 12. The victim left his house to meet his friends but never returned, says the FIR registered by the RA Bazaar police station on the complaint of his brother-in-law Mohammad Shafique.
The next day, Shafique received a call from an unknown number from the captors who informed the family that Rehmatullah was with them and demanded 100 million rupees for his safe release. However, the family couldn’t arrange the extortion money and lodged a complaint with the police.
The police initiated investigation and made headway to the captors but couldn’t get him on time. However, three kidnappers identified as Wahid Gul, Sadiq Abdullah and Mohammad Bahadur were arrested. They confessed to kidnapping Rehmatullah for ransom. The victim was killed and buried near Saray-e-Kharbooza. The police recovered the body which was later identified by the family. Investigators said one of the kidnappers was a friend of the deceased.
