Rawalpindi:The first annual intermediate examination for 2024, organised by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rawalpindi, will commence today (Friday).
All preparations have been completed, and 195 examination centres have been established: 29 in Attock, 30 in Chakwal, 12 in Talagang, 29 in Jhelum, 8 in Murree, and 87 in Rawalpindi district. All examination staff have been appointed. The district administration, in cooperation, will strictly monitor these centres with mobile inspectors, chairman squads, and district vigilance committees making visits.
According to Muhammad Adnan Khan, the chairman of the education board, Section 144 has been enforced at all examination centres, and a zero-tolerance policy against cheating is in place. Measures have been taken against the cheating mafia, and cheating or facilitating it is considered a crime under the Punjab Universities and Boards Malpractice Ordinance 1950 (Amendment Ordinance) and “The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016.” Capturing and sharing images of question papers is a serious offense, and impersonation during exams is also punishable by up to three months in prison and a fine of Rs50,000.
Chairman of the education board further stated that deputy commissioners of all districts, directors of colleges, deputy directors of colleges, CEOs of education, and the district administration stand shoulder to shoulder with the board and will visit examination centres daily, sending reports back to the board. Based on these reports, the monitoring and management of examination centres will be further refined and improved. Lists of all examination personnel, including distributor inspectors, resident inspectors, mobile inspectors, centre superintendents, and deputy superintendents, have been shared with intelligence agencies. The special branch will also conduct covert surveillance of all examination centres and submit their reports to the board.
In conclusion, he stated that providing the best examination facilities to the candidates is a top priority, and along with the Controller of Examinations, Professor Sajid Mahmood Farooqi, all arrangements are being closely supervised.
