Directive to removal illegal signboards

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the officers concerned to remove illegal signboards and ensure strict implementation of parking rules across the provincial capital.

He issued this direction during his visit to Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) on Thursday. TEPA Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain gave a briefing on the measures taken at 82 important points of traffic flow in the city. TEPA, along with the traffic police, was working to improve traffic flow at all these locations. In the meeting, a briefing was also given on the measures taken in different areas of MM Alam Road and Gulberg. He was told that encroachments on footpath at both sides of MM Alam Road have been removed and other steps have also been taken, including patchwork and stone paint.

Illegal signboards have been removed from various important roads and patchwork has been completed at 1,560 different places in the city. The work was under way to build cycling tracks at various locations in order to promote the culture of cycling in the city. Meanwhile, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited LDA Avenue One and reviewed the ongoing development works in different blocks of LDA Avenue One.

He also reviewed the proposed initiatives under Sustainable Growth Model at LDA Avenue One. Chief Engineer LDA Israr Saeed, Project Director Zeeshan Usmani and Director LDA Avenue One Asad Ullah Cheema gave the briefings. A briefing was given about vending points, walkways, promotion of cycling and other measures at LDA Avenue One. He was also briefed on the ongoing development works in various blocks of the Avenue.
