Rawalpindi:The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema has directed concerned officers to strictly implement the new rates of ‘Roti’ and ‘Naan’ at any cost. The concerned officers should register FIRs against Naanbais on violation of Punjab government notification in which Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz fixed the rate of 100 gram ‘Roti’ at Rs16 against Rs20 and a ‘Naan’ at Rs20 against Rs25.
On the other hand, majority of Naanbais have rejected the decision of Punjab Chief Minister and selling ‘Naan’ and ‘Roti’ at old rates. They were selling a ‘Roti’ at Rs20 while a ‘Naan’ at Rs25 here on Monday.
The Naanbais have appealed Chief Minister Punjab to reduce the prices of ‘Atta’ and gas if she wanted to reduce the prices of ‘Roti’ and ‘Naan’. Punjab government was selling 20-kilogram ‘Atta’ bag at Rs2,850 to Rs3,250. “How we can sell a ‘Roti’ at Rs16 and ‘Naan’ at Rs20,” Naanbais said.
The Deputy Commissioner said that we are strictly monitoring all tandoors in Rawalpindi. “I will never spare violators at any cost,” he warned. I have ordered all price control magistrates to submit a detailed report about ‘roti’ rates, he said.
Punjab Chief Minister announced on Sunday that the provincial government had reduced the price of bread to Rs16 per loaf.
In a message on social networking website X, she said the authorities in all districts and the departments concerned of the province had been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the decision.
