KWSC installs biometric attendance machines

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has installed modern attendance machines based on biometric and facial detection for its employees.


According to a statement issued by the water corporation, KWSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed took this step for the improvement of the water corporation, due to which attendance of all employees will be ensured.

In this regard, KWSC Director IT Abdul Ghani Shaik said that the process had been implemented on the special instructions of the KWSC CEO. He said they wanted to ensure full attendance of employees. He added that complete biodata of employees would be computerised so that their problems could be solved quickly.

He said the KWSC had a total of 40 different offices in which there were 210 divisions and 70 per cent of the digital attendance machines had been installed in these offices and the installation of internet service in these offices was also under way.

Of the total 9,350 regular employees of the KWSC, he said, 70 per cent of the employees' enrolment had been completed, and the enrolment process for the rest of the employees was being completed on an emergency basis, the IT director said.

He said UPS and solar energy systems would also be installed in outstation offices of the corporation so that the unattended system could be kept active during power cuts. He said the main purpose of the digital attendance of employees was to enable their attendance under the biometric system like other departments of the Sindh government and accordingly, the employees would be paid salaries on time.
