The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has approved the setting up of subsidiary boards for overseeing solid waste collection and disposal works in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur cities.
The decision to this effect was reached at the maiden meeting of the provincial steering committee of the SSWMB on Friday. Sindh Minister for Local Government, Town Planning, Public Health Engineering and Rural Development Saeed Ghani chaired the meeting.
The boards to be set up for the three cities would comprise non-permanent members, including two technical members from the academia, one representative from a non-governmental organisation, and a person having technical expertise in the field of solid waste disposal.
