The investigation officer produced the detained suspects before the judicial magistrate (South) and requested their 14-day remand in police custody for interrogation and completion of other legal formalities.

However, the magistrate remanded the suspects in police custody until April 1 with a direction to the IO to produce them on completion of their remand without fail. An FIR has been lodged at the Sahil police station under Section 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the police, Shireen had been missing since the gruesome incident. Malik had married Shireen five years ago, with whom he had a son and a daughter. The businessman had purchased the flat in his wife’s name a month before his murder. They said that the victim was shot in the back of his head with a 9mm pistol.
