The expanded vote bank of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has paved the way for a change in the political landscape of Karachi and other parts of the country.
JI leader Liaquat Baloch expressed these views while addressing a Iftar gathering in the Malir area of the city on Sunday. He said that elections were being managed in the country since 1970s. As a result, he added, the people had lost trust in the electoral process.
Such policies of interference in the elections had also developed differences between the people and the state institutions, he opined. He stressed the need for take solid measures to restore the trust of people in the electoral process.
